Blackberry Settings

Tip: You can access this site from on campus, including from a dedicated network for performing initial configuration of devices to connect to the University Wi-Fi. To connect to this special network, choose network name / SSID 'UoR-Setup' and enter network key 'ConnectMe' when prompted.

This page explains how to connect a Blackberry device to eduroam.

  1. From the Applications screen, select Set up Wi-Fi.
  2. Choose Scan For Networks.
  3. From the list, select eduroam.
  4. Select PEAP as the Security Type.
  5. Enter your University username followed by in the Username box (e.g.
  6. Enter your University password where requested.
  7. Choose AddTrust External CA Root as the CA Certificate.
  8. Select EAP-MS-CHAP v2 as the Inner link security.
  9. Enter as the Server subject.
  10. Ensure Automatically obtain IP address and DNS is ticked.
  11. Ensure Allow inter-access point handover is ticked.
  12. Press Connect.
  13. You should be told "Connection Successful!". Select Yes to save this Wi-Fi network as a profile.
  14. Press Next then Finish.

Your Blackberry should automatically try to connect to eduroam in the future.


If you cannot connect, check that:

  • You are at a location with good signal strength.
  • You have remembered to add to the end of your username.
  • You are typing your University password correctly.

These settings will only work if you have a University of Reading username - if you are from a different organisation, you will need to refer to your home organisation for the correct instructions.
